Teacher Professional Development Unit
The principal jurisdictions of the Teacher Professional Development Unit according to law 4763/2020 (Chapter C, article 96) involve:
- planning the national strategy for teacher training as well as monitoring its implementation
- cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs Educational Staff Training Department for Primary and Secondary Education (Department C), competent Ministry of Education and other Ministries’ agencies and bodies along with other Greek or international organizations for the design and implementation of teacher training and education schemes
- issuing opinions for the distribution of national and Community resources available for teacher education and teacher training proposals submitted to the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs
- advising on the accreditation of teacher training institutions, coordinating and monitoring the implementation, certification and evaluation of teacher training procedures
- applying, along with the project manager, the criteria for the registration of trainers in special registers, such as suitability and sufficiency of subject matter knowledge, training subject matter, aims and target group for the training programs
- establishing, maintaining and updating of trainers’ registers as well as implementing training programs and actions
- conducting and/or commissioning studies and surveys related to teacher training
- arranging publicity events for the promotion and dissemination of various training schemes results and
- attending to any further development and sustainability of various training schemes as well as any detail concerning the operation and implementation of IEP educational programs.
